Geoff Ogilvy played his best golf of the week Saturday, making five birdies on the back nine to hold off teenager Rory McIlroy, 2 and 1, and advance to the semifinals in the Accenture Match Play Championship. With Marty Brodeur back in the lineup and the Devils fielding a healthy team for the first time since the start of the season, New Jersey is looking like a serious contender for the Stanley Cup again. Stephen Curry scored 34 points and became Davidson’s all-time leading scorer in the Wildcats’ 99-56 rout of Georgia Southern on Saturday. Curry shot 11-of-19 from the field, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range in another milestone for the remarkable junior as Davidson (24-6, 17-2) clinched the top seed for next week’s Southern Conference tournament.

The New England Patriots must feel certain Tom Brady’s injured knee will be fine next season. After putting the franchise tag on Matt Cassel as insurance for their two-time Super Bowl MVP, the Patriots shipped Cassel and linebacker Mike Vrabel to Kansas City on Saturday. The Chiefs gave up shockingly little — the 34th overall pick in the April draft for both players.

Butler clinches Horizon League title (AP)

Forget the Senior Day festivities. Butler junior Willie Veasley and his band of underclassmen had plenty to celebrate Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Veasley had a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds, and freshman Ronald Nored scored the last three points to rally No. 24 Butler to a conference-championship clinching 58-56 victory over Cleveland State.

Hansbrough sets free-throw mark in rout (AP)

Nobody takes as much low-post punishment as Tyler Hansbrough does. Now the North Carolina star has a record to go along with those bumps and bruises. Broncos sign 7-time Pro Bowl S Dawkins (AP)

The Denver Broncos have signed seven-time Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins, who spent his entire 13-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles. Although Dawkins turns 36 next season and is clearly on the downside of his career, he brings a hard-hitting style and leadership qualities coveted by new Broncos coach Josh McDaniels.
